They're up!!!

It IS spring. My knees are telling me so - as I've been digging and planting, my mid-age knees remind me that some days, they are older than the rest of me.

This is a quick update - more this weekend. Mostly this beautiful image of what's happening in the garden!

How do you know it's spring?

  1. Pretty sprouts!

It was hot here today. I spent some time (before I lost the shade) chopping up some kind of spiky plant the previous owner had planted. The leaves were so sharp they went right through my leather gloves! I will have to ask the gardener to dig it out. But I made progress.

Tomorrow there's a workshop on how to kill your grass. I had been waitlisted, but today I was notified that I'm in! So yay! I feel like I'm moving forward.

  2. Awesome! Gardening workshops on killing grass is a solid way to start. Grass is a ridiculous throwback to -what, exactly? The family estate with its rolling hills and pastures? Crazy talk.

I still want to see pictures! Do some before-during-after shots... even if it takes years - and we've been at ours for a decade - it's so cool to see progress each season.

Speaking of which... I'll post some of ours now!

  3. Okay, but only you can see them. It's mostly weeds now because I stopped caring for the grass more than a year ago.

  4. It's all good... every single gardener started with mostly weeds, adn work daily to not return to that state!
